During our talk, he described how he wants to be remembered as someone who gave everything he had for the field of public health. Having advised seven US presidents on various disease outbreaks including COVID-19, he shares insights on the present and future of pandemics, backed up by decades of experience in public health.
During our talk, he dove into the latest on protecting oneself from the virus, his unwavering faith in science and his future plans. We discussed his work on PEPFAR. Though a long-term solution to vaccine equity is to create market-based vaccine hubs in low-income countries, there are pools of funding already existing that can function in the interim.
